چکیده

We consider a cognitive radio network in which a set of base stations make opportunistic spectrum access to support cognitive radios within their cells. As the spectrum of interest is licensed to the operator of a primary network, channel assignment and power control must be carried out in the cognitive network so that no excessive interference is caused to users of the primary network. Given this constraint, we are interested in the downlink channel/power allocation problem, with the objective of maximizing the total number of supported CRs. Since the problem belongs to the class of NP-hard problems, it is desirable to model and analyze it using game theory. First, we formulate the problem as a non-cooperative game. For distributed power allocation, we use Iterative Water Filling algorithm. Numerical results show that the pure non-cooperative game may result in non-convergence or many undesirable Nash equilibria with few supported CRs. To enhance the performances Nash bargaining solution (NBS) is used. NBS requires the cooperation between BSs but still power allocation is done in a distributed manner using ITW.

Spectrum Assignment in Cognitive Radio Networks Using Fuzzy Logic Empowered Ants

The prevalent communications networks suffer from lack of spectrum and spectrum inefficiency. This has motivated researchers to develop cognitive radio (CR) as a smart and dynamic radio access promised solution. A major challenge to this new technology is how to make fair assignment of available spectrum to unlicensed users, particularly for smart grids communication. This paper introduces an i...

Optimal Power Allocation for Multichannel Cognitive Radio Systems Using Stackelberg Game

We consider a non-orthogonal multiple access scheme e.g. CDMA based cellular multi-channel cognitive radio network (CRN). Here multiple secondary users share a common set of channels simultaneously. For such an environment, we develop a distributed power allocation approach based on a game theoretic formulation among secondary users to satisfy their rate requirement. We model the problem using ...

Backhaul-Aware Decoupled Uplink and Downlink User Association, Subcarrier Allocation, and Power Control in FiWi HetNets

Decoupling the uplink and downlink user association improves the throughput of heterogeneous networks (HetNets) and balances the traffic load of macro- and small- base stations. Recently, fiber-wireless HetNets (FiWi-HetNets) have been considered as viable solutions for access networks. To improve the accuracy of user association and resource allocation algorithms in FiWi-HetNets, the capacity ...

A Novel Multicast Tree Construction Algorithm for Multi-Radio Multi-Channel Wireless Mesh Networks

Many appealing multicast services such as on-demand TV, teleconference, online games and etc. can benefit from high available bandwidth in multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh networks. When multiple simultaneous transmissions use a similar channel to transmit data packets, network performance degrades to a large extant. Designing a good multicast tree to route data packets could enhance the...

Joint Beamforming and Power Allocation Cognitive Radio Networks under Imperfect CSI

Traditional beamforming and power control algo-rithms in cognitive radio (CR) are based on the assumption of perfect channel state information (CSI) however; this may lead to performance degradation in realistic systems. In this paper, the problem of joint beamforming and power control is investigated in underlay CR networks with imperfect CSI. Our objective is to maximize the sum utility of se...
